A Massive Earthquake Struck Myanmar… Now Is the Time to Help!
On March 28, 2025, at 12:50 PM,
a powerful earthquake struck Sagaing Region in Myanmar.
With a magnitude of 7.7,
this is the strongest earthquake since Myanmar gained independence.
For the people of Myanmar,
this is a disaster that will be remembered for over a century.
Where did it happen?
The earthquake began near Mandalay,
Myanmar’s second-largest city,
in the Sagaing area.
It originated 10 km underground,
and the tremors were felt across the entire country,
even reaching Thailand and China.
So many people felt the shaking
and trembled in fear.
How serious is the damage?
The news reports say:
"Buildings collapsed, bridges broke down, and roads cracked open."
People lost their homes,
lost their families,
and with hospitals far away and roads destroyed,
many are unable to receive medical help.
- Over 144 people have died across Myanmar,
with more than 700 injured. - Important landmarks like Buddhist temples, bridges, and the royal palace in Mandalay were destroyed.
- The control tower at the capital city Naypyidaw’s airport collapsed,
killing all the staff inside.
Even in Bangkok, Thailand, 1,000 km away,
a building collapsed,
killing 3 people and leaving over 90 missing.
This is not just a natural disaster.
It’s a devastating tragedy that has shattered lives and hope.
Myanmar Needs Our Help Now
Since the military coup in 2021,
Myanmar has been in a state of civil conflict,
and government-led rescue operations are not functioning well.
Many people are still waiting for help
with their bare hands, trapped under rubble,
while hospitals, communication lines, and roads are paralyzed.
Myanmar urgently needs real support
from the international community.
